I’m always looking for ways to take you with me.
Words from Ann or Emily get you most of the way.
Pictures are great, even better if Keely is taking them.
Videos can add a little more real too.
But now? Now I can put the video camera in your hand. You can walk with me through the streets of Peru, through the doorway of a child’s home, and decide for yourself what you want to look at along the way.
Just click the image and move it from left to right. 360 degrees – making our upcoming trip to Peru our most immersive and interactive yet.
Here’s a test video I shot at an abandoned farm down the street today. Give it a test drive. Look around – all the way around. And let me know what you think.
Brad says:
Very cool.
Windy says:
How neat! I’m looking forward to virtually going to Peru with you and being one of your 72.
Jolanthe says:
Very neat!!! Looking forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts and stories.
Shaun Groves says:
How awesome would it have been to have this tool on your trip? To take people inside a home? Through a neighborhood? Onto a playground at a child development center? Hoping this works!
Barbara says:
that.is.cool.
the end. ๐
Sharon Dalton Williams says:
This is really cool!! I’m looking forward to going to Peru with you virtually!! Thanks for doing this.
Kristin says:
That’s amazing! Can’t wait to see Peru!
Amanda says:
We sponsor a child in Peru, so I am very excited to “travel” with you and see what life is like for this sweet girl that my children and I have been praying for each day.
Anna says:
Awesome!
Katie Axelson says:
Funny you should mention this, I spent all of last week putting together a 360 video tour of the local college campus. Cue dizziness. ๐
Katie
grace at {Gabbing with Grace} says:
Shaun, I just went to Compassion’s site to find out more about the trip and the site said something about spots still open for bloggers so I filled out the form. if you have any say-so, put in a good word for me, hook a sista UP! =)
Shaun Groves says:
No space left on this trip! And no time to get you registered and flights booked even if there were. ; ). We leave in 8 days!
But there will be more trips in the future! Thanks for applying.
Pam OBrien says:
Ooooo – that is cool! It’s going to be even more awesome to follow along.
Kris says:
Woot! Awesome. ๐
Yvonne says:
Wow! That is so cool! Next time, I think you should sing to us… ๐
NancyTyler says:
What a great way to use an iPhone. ๐
Shaun Groves says:
Nice. I wondered when you’d mouth off, nancy. That iPhone post you ordered is on the way, by the way. ; )
NancyTyler says:
Mouth off…harsh, dude. lol
I was admiring the way you’re using your technology for good and proud of myself for figuring out what technology you were using! Any covert teasing was just a byproduct of that discovery. ๐
I’d better make room on my calendar to respond to this forthcoming epic post. A little scared. Be gentle to your tormentor…
Shaun Groves says:
Ha! It will be more confessional and mournful than retaliatory. I promise, Nancy.
Lindsay says:
Wow!! How great!! Really, really great!
Ruth Abel says:
Oh my word. This is the coolest thing ever! I can’t wait.
Tracee Carcasson says:
Um. That is incredible. Can’t wait to see it working in Peru. My kids noticed in your shadow that you were holding some kind of pole. Was your phone attached to that? Way cool!
Shaun Groves says:
Yes. My phone is on a monopod. Not very secure either. Scares me.
Kristy K says:
That’s awesome! Our sponsored child lived in Peru and I’ve been praying that your group will meet him and post pictures of him. Can’t wait!
Shaun Groves says:
In Lima?
Kristy K says:
My original comment should say he lives in Peru, not lived. ๐ According to our info, he’s part of the Tesoros del Senor Student Center and lives in Villa El Salvador. I hope it’s okay to post this info here. If not, you can delete this. It will be really cool if we can see him on a blog. We love him!
Kelli says:
That’s really neat…and a little freaky. I find technology baffling.
I can’t wait to travel with you guys (virtually, of course because I’ve tried to think of every way possible to stow away with you and just couldn’t seem to work out a feasible plan).
Praying for all of you!
Shaun Groves says:
As Micah often sarcastically says when I’m droning on about technology I’ve just discovered… “We live in the future.”
As for making room for you. I could pack light but in a momblogger sized suitcase and I’m sure there’d be room. ; )
Kelli says:
You’d have to leave all your hair products behind. ๐
Shaun Groves says:
In that case…sorry, friend.
John Stickley says:
What kind of tech did you use to make this video? It’s AMAZING.
Shaun Groves says:
We’re always being copied, John, so for now I’ll keep the specifics to myself ; )
Maybe after the trip. Cool?
John says:
Sounds good.
Truth be told, I’m pretty sure I figured it out earlier today thanks to a bit of searching with Google. But your secret’s safe with me! ๐
Angelica Briceno says:
So Awesome!!!! I cant wait to “walk with you” through the streets of my country ๐
Douglas says:
very cool. I watched it all the way through the first time, though, wondering when it was going to offer a different view without figuring out how to manipulate the view. I guess I should have read more closely.
