I’ve written before about how much the old hymn Just As I Am has helped me out. I pay it often. Well, one day, during a sound check someplace a few months ago, a new chorus to it came about between the verses. I’ve tried it out a few times on unsuspecting crowds this Summer and there’s been no booing or lasting side-effects so, here it is for you. Or at least this morning’s rendition of it.
Just As I Am
Arr. Shaun Groves
VERSE 1:
Just as I am without one plea
But that Thy blood was shed for me
And that thou bidst me come to Thee
O Lamb of God, I come, I come
VERSE 2:
Just as I am though tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt
Fightings and fears within, without
O Lamb of God, I come, I come
CHORUS:
O I come to the Son, who can heal with His wounds
O I come to the Thief, who has robbed every tomb
O I come to the Victor, my Life and my Love
O Lamb of God I come
VERSE 3:
Just as I am poor wretched blind
Sight, riches, healing of the mind
Yes, all I need in Thee to find
O Lamb of God, I come, I come
CHORUS
VERSE 4:
Just as I am Thou will receive
Will welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve
Because Thy promise I believe
O Lamb of God, I come, I come
CHORUS
O I come to the Son, who can heal with His wounds
O I come to the Thief, who has robbed every tomb
O I come to the Victor, my Life and my Love
O Lamb of God
O I come to the Son, who can heal with His wounds
O I come to the Thief, who has robbed every tomb
O I come to the Victor, my Life and my Love
O Lamb of God I come
O Lamb of God I come

We sang this today when you led worship at our Church, The Vine. This is one of my favorite hymns, and one of the first ones I learned to play on the organ as a child. I remember my grandma singing it with the choir growing up. Loved your chorus – would love to get a copy of this. Please put it on a CD or on iTunes. Thanks for sharing it with us today.
