A quick update on my sister-in-law Amy. Her doctor’s appointment at the Will’s Eye Institute in Philly is now slated for September 7th.
Yep, I’m a terrible brother-in-law: I’ll be in Guatemala. But the rest of the adults in our family will be traveling with her.
Thank you for praying, and for asking others to pray! It’s incredible how many thousands – literally – of people are asking God for Amy’s comfort and healing and for our family. Incredible. Thank you.
Keep it up!
While I write this at my kitchen table, my youngest daughter and niece are playing with Barbie dolls. My niece’s doll just got the news that her mom is going to heaven, which, she quickly explains, is a very good thing because in heaven you get to eat and be with God. While our family is doing well and the mood is very positive around here, obviously cancer is always in the back of our minds…at least in our Barbies’ minds.
You continued prayers for our family of tremendous comfort. Thank you for speaking them continuously and with great faith.

MJ says:
Why are some prayers for healing answered and others not?
Are we to leave room in our prayers to be disappointed?
Are we to pray to the finish line believing that our loved one will be the one favored by God for a miracle on earth? And then if that miracle doesn’t happen, what do we do with the broken pieces of answered prayers?
Some will judge me for seeming insensitive with my questions at this time while your loved one fights cancer, but I truly want to know your thoughts.
How do we package our disappointment when miracles don’t happen, prayers don’t get answered here on earth according to the desires of our hearts?
Is the key really the earnestness of “thy will be done” ?
I pray Amy gets her miracle here.

Amy says:
I’ll be praying for Amy. My sister is 33 and has been battling a rare, stage 4 cancer for over 4 years now. I know how hard it is on everyone. Cancer is always at the back of our minds, and often at the front too.

My 42 year old sister-in-law goes in for surgery next Thursday for breast cancer. Of course we are praying that she will be cured, but she’s already received THE miracle of life eternal. Knowing that doesn’t keep the cancer from the front of our minds at times though.

It’s good to hear that Amy’s family is holding up so well. I’ll say a prayer for her.
