I’m in Riverside, California – Land of the Los. We asked him to open for me last night and I’m so glad he agreed to. It was odd but very cool to meet a man I’ve only known through his blog for a couple years, to see him in the flesh and not just in pixels. And, it turns out, he really is a great musician – he doesn’t just play one on the web. Without his band he held the attention of a bunch of college students for forty-five minutes, just him and his guitar – mostly through the strategic use of tattoos and dimples. That is the second hardest kind of gig to do – the first being college students outdoors with only an acoustic guitar. Great job, Los. And thanks for interviewing me for the Soulcast. Oh, and I have pink eye. Apparently. We don’t know that for sure, but my eye? It’s pink. It started when we flew into LA. Everyone told me it was the smog. But nope, it leaked the whole night on stage (I looked very spiritual, as if I were moved by every word to every song). And it’s still full of red lightning bolts this morning. And I have Brody’s cold.
So that means that in the last two weeks of touring I’ve personally had the stomach flu, pink eye and a cold. Huh? If this is what working out gets you I think I’d like to go back to being sedentary. I was much healthier than.
The good news? The great news? 14 kids were rescued from poverty last night by the folks at La Sierra University.

Hey.. I am a nurse. If it’s pink eye, you will have lots of crusty junk in the morning, pretty much gluing your eye shut. VERY warm compresses work wonders for that. You can use them throughout the day for comfort as well. But, you really need to get some antibiotic eye drops if that’s what you are dealing with. It is very contagious!! Don’t mean to preach at you.. just want you to be well! praying for healing and no more sickness! enough is enough.

And you did well! I know, I was in row 14 and amongst the 106+ people who were in attendance.

I got some drops and yes, my eye was glued shut this morning. Hate to sound like a wuss here but yuck. Seriously. Yuck.
Much better now.
Thanks nurse Hollybird.

My pleasure, Shaun. And you’re not a wuss… it IS YUCK! seriously. Anyone who has had it, knows just how gross it can be. you wake up looking like something out of a horror flick. Glad to hear you are getting better. I will keep praying.

hey there shaun: sorry to hear that it wasn’t our smog that got a hold of your eye.
i’ve only ever heard that it hurts/burns like fire, itches like a bloddy weavil, and highly contagious for about a week.
thanx for the blessing of sharing God’s message of love and caring – we were once again fed by spending time with Him thru you.
shan & i will be praying for your eye and future health. lets see where we get to see you next and hopefully not confuse you for being in the wrong part of the country! blessings friend!

Sorry no post on Monday. There probably won’t be a post today either. This is a big no-no for professional blogging but I have no choice.
The pink is now in both eyes and I’ve lost my voice and I’ve got a cold and a fever. I’m not sure I could come up with anything worth reading at the moment. But more importantly my wife needs a break. So I’m watching kids outside while she catches up on her to do list and gets some quiet time in.
I’ll return tomorrow. I hope.

Take care of yourself. Quit excercising; it’s obviously killing you!
