Thanks to everyone at WYCM, we had a good crowd of crazy Massachusettsians (?) at Saturday night’s show and sixteen kids were sponsored through Compassion International. Thanks to Stephen and the whole army of WYCM volunteers.
We drove from Massachusetts after the show on Saturday night to New York and woke up early this morning to return our rental and catch a cab into the heart of Manhattan. I taught two morning services for my friends at Origins Church NYC. The church meets in the Triad Theatre, is usually pastored by my old friend Jon Tyson and was planted with help from our church in the Nashville area. Jon asked me teach on the topic of peace. I think it went pretty well. We’ll hopefully have some audio to post later this week so you can judge for yourself.
Then Brody and I grabbed some lunch with my sister-in-law (Becky’s sister) Kathy. She’s the one I’ve written about here before – she does hair for film and tv. And she’s in my list of the top ten funniest people I’ve ever met. She took us to a killer Barbecue place called Virgil’s near TImes Square. We had a leisurely two hour lunch – great food, even better conversation. I wish she’d give up being a super famous barber to the stars and move to Nashville but I don’t think that’s happening anytime soon.
After lunch Brody and I trekked more than twenty blocks to Mac Mecca…
…where we engaged in a little gorilla computer evangelism, converting a few Macs to Shlog.com. What? Like you wouldn’t do it.
We finished the night at a church in the Chelsea district of Manhattan – an area of town littered with art galleries and vintage clothing stores – where another group from Origins Church NYC meets.
Then it was off to the hotel again. I’m heading to bed now. Six states (I forgot about the drive through Connecticut last night) in two days, three church services and loads of walking have worn us out.
Thanks to everybody we’ve met along the way for a great weekend.

This whole thing is interesting, and…
Your teeth are like, white. Seriously. I admire your dental health. Especially in that radio picture.
Charlie Park says:
Yeah, Virgil’s is killer. And I think they have Magic Hat on tap.
And my favorite Mac Store Subversion is setting the in-store macs to my blog, so I can relate.
Lauren says:
Hey, yeah I know I’m a bit late at this, but awesome concert on the 13th! (I was one of the volunteers)
I really enjoyed it though. : )
