Brad asked me to send him a copy of a prayer he heard me say in Kenya. It’s a prayer I started saying a few years ago to remember all God has done for me and all He can do through me each day.
Thank you for my daily bread. Through me, feed those who are hungry.
Thank you for a body and mind that work. Through me, heal those who are broken.
Thank you for loving me when I was your enemy. Through me, love my enemies.
Thank you that someone told me the story of Christ’s death and resurrection. Through me, tell the world.
Amen.
What can we pray for you?
Brad Ruggles says:
Thanks for posting it! I know it really resonated with me when I first heard it. So simple, and such a clear responsibility for action.
Karina says:
Amen and amen. Make it so Lord.
Michelle says:
I love this and I will be printing it out so that I can memorize it.
I would love prayers for my 12 year old-step daughter Nico. Her Mother isn’t saved and she recently took Nico from us and cut off contact. She’s been put in several situations that have the possibility to be very dangerous for a young girl. Just pray for her safety and for the truth to be revealed, for her to remember her Saviour. Pray for her Mom’s salvation.
Kristie says:
Please pray for Avery, a 3 year old from our church’s children’s ministry, who was admitted to Egleston in Atlanta on Tuesday night–and given a diagnosis of acute lymphoblastic leukemia on Wednesday. He (and we) live 4 hours from Atlanta, and we are attempting to be the hands and feet of Jesus from a distance (mailing restaurant gift cards, etc.)…but I pray that God will surround Avery’s (young!) parents with encouragers there in Atlanta.
Ron says:
Kristie, as a youth pastor I walked with a 13 year old girl as she fought leukemia for 2 years. She beat it big time. At 17 she was diagnosed with it again which crushed her and her family. She won again. Next year she graduates from her chosen university. She has a “fella” that will probably become permanent. It can be done. God hears our prayers so whatever you do, don’t give up!
Sherron says:
Praying for sweet Avery and her mom and dad.
jen says:
There is such a powerful connection between being thankful for all that God has given us and wanting to share it with others . . thank you for sharing this prayer!
Michelle says:
amen.

Thank you for posting this, I needed it.
I don’t typically ask for prayer but no one here knows me so I figure it’s safe. I have been struggling pretty intensely with depression for the past month or so. I tend to do life alone which makes it even more complicated when crises arises. So I’m feeling pretty empty and alone right now. My thoughts often turn to death being my only escape…which I know is a lie and because of my nieces and nephews would not go through with…but the thoughts suck. I’m making conscious effort to try to take those thoughts captive, unfortunately the truth I know often gets lost amidst the lies I believe. I am trying to trust God. I am trying to reach out the best I can. Even joined a Bible study. please just pray that God will keep His promise….that if I keep seeking He will allow Himself to be found because the weight in my chest is suffocating. thanks.
Shaun Groves says:
Praying. For all of you.
Ron says:
Praying, praying, praying. I promise. You are not alone … even in the quiet.
Michelle says:
Praying, and crying. But mostly praying for you.
Matthew W says:
Hi,
I’ve dealt with depression a lot in the past two years or so. I thought I’d share some blog posts that I found helpful in those times:

http://bit.ly/9Av3Ct
Also, let me encourage you to share this with people who know you well. It’s not like you have to tell it to John Doe that you meet on the street, but it’s so, so much harder to fight when no one around you knows. It’s like you feel like screaming, “SOMEONE HELP ME!” and you think your actions are screaming that, but people don’t easily make the connection that that “something” that is different with you is actually depression. But people do notice that something is different… they just can’t quite put their finger on it. Open up to a few good friends and ask them to help you through this.
And please, please remember that even though it seems impossible, there >is< light on the other side.
Sherron says:
Praying for you, Stephanie. I understand the demons you’re battling all too well. Please do not give up. You are not alone.
Mary says:
Please pray for my 14 year old son. He has begun confessing to his daddy and me that he has seen some awful images online. He knows that our Lord forgives him but he is having a much harder time forgiving himself. Bedtime is especially hard for him–he’s having such a hard time going to sleep because all the yuck keeps coming up in his mind.
Thank you, Shaun, for giving me a safe place to ask for prayers for him.
Ron says:
i love the prayer, Shaun. Hope you don’t mind if I pray it a bit myself.
I would be grateful for prayers from strangers. I went through some tough things as a youth pastor. Teenage suicides, chasing down a run away or two (or ten) and such. Then our pastor fell (morally) and I was thrust into filling a leadership void for 3 years. I finally had to walk away. I took a year off and now I’m pastoring again (wearing the “big pastor” pants these days) but I’ve been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. it’s pretty tough some days. But God’s faithful and when I started singing “no turning back, no turning back” way back in high school, I meant it. I’m in for the long haul. It’s just some times the long haul seems pretty … long.
Shaun Groves says:
On it.
Sherron says:
Keeping you in my prayers, Ron.
Kelly @ Love Well says:
I love this, Shaun. It’s going on my bulletin board. It resonates with my heart cry.
Ryan Detzel says:
I remember hearing you pray it as well. It gave me chills just as all serious calls to action do. LL Shaun G.

I have a lost friend whose mother just had brain surgery this week and is not recovering well. Her mother is lost, as well. Please pray for them.
Sherron says:
Yesterday was Volunteer Day where I work (Interstate Batteries). The project I participated in was writing letters to servicemen and servicewomen who are injured and recovering in hospitals in Iraq and Afghanistan. We wrote more than 500 letters. We have no idea who the recipients will be. The letters will be distributed by the chaplain at each hospital. I would love it if you would pray with me for the people who receive our letters. May the right letters find the right people and may our words of encouragment be exactly what they needed to hear.
Shaun Groves says:
Done.
laura@lifeoverseas says:
I love that this prayer is such a clear reminder that if we really understand what God has done for us, we are naturally driven to be used by Him to give it to others. Jesus-love and redemption impacting US, organically means it impacts those around us. Absolutely.
Thanks for posting this.
Lindsay says:
This prayer is your best writing work. (At least, in my opinion.) It’s exactly what it should be…no more or less. Thank you for sharing it.
Beth says:
An answered prayer: a little over a year ago, our teenage daughter was just coming out of drug rehab with no desire to change. No desire for God, and no desire to be a part of our family any longer. Fast forward to now. She’s expecting our first grandchild in November. She’s clean, sober, an honor student, back in church and serving in our nursery, working hard and saving for her child. Our family relationship is completely restored and she tells me daily how blessed she is because of our support and unconditional love. God is indescribable! His mercies and grace are unending. Praise Him! Continued prayers for a healthy baby and for his relationship with our Lord.
