Haitian Children and Families Devastated by Massive Earthquake
The catastrophic earthquake that hit Haiti yesterday has resulted in unfathomable chaos and devastation for hundreds of thousands of children and families.
Compassion sponsors and donors serve more than 65,000 children in Haiti. At least a third of them live in the areas that were hardest hit.
I am asking you to please send a generous gift today to help precious children and their families.
We are working rapidly to assess the situation and determine the full extent of damage:
- Sadly, we anticipate there will be many deaths.
- We anticipate thousands of children and families will have lost everything.
- We anticipate many of our church-based child development centers will have been destroyed.
Without a doubt, the children we serve in Haiti are in shock and face immediate needs for food, water, medical care, shelter and counseling. We have teams prepared to respond, and we are deeply committed to helping each child.
We need your donation today. Please reach out in the name of Jesus to bring relief, comfort, love and restoration to precious children and families whose lives have been devastated by this crisis.
Thank you for caring,
Dr. Wess Stafford
President Compassion International

Shaun, I have a question, and I don’t know who to ask. Since you are in direct contact with Compassion, maybe you can help me. I’m disabled with no independent income and have little-to-nothing to offer the Haitian people monetarily. I do have some clothes, but the main thing I wanted to offer is toys — stuffed animals, mainly. I’ve collected them all my life, and I’d like to try to send some to Haiti. I know that may sound silly, but I’m aware of the comfort something so “small” can bring. I know these children didn’t have much to begin with, and now they have even less (or nothing at all). But, I don’t know how to accomplish doing this.
I have friends with another organization who live there, but reaching them is difficult at best, as you know. So, I don’t know if they would/could take them. I’m also aware of how hard it would be to get anything other than money to Haiti.
Thank you for taking the time to read this! God bless your heart for all you do!!!

At this point I do not think your generous offer could be received or unfortunately be of much practical help. Without a home there is no place to gather more possessions.
What the people of Haiti need right now are basic necessities like food, shelter, water, medical care and to find loved ones.
Thank you for your concern and your offer to help. If there comes a time when such a donation is beneficial I’ll let you know.

Thank you, Shaun. I agree with what you’re saying. I do hope you’ll remember to get back to me, but — gracious alive! — you have enough rolling around in your mind! GOD BLESS YOU!!!

I had planned to go on-line today and see if I could find a widget for donating to Compassion that could be added to my blog. Thanks for making this easy for me.
Done!
