Here’s the first draft of a little ditty called “Sing” that I wrote after my friends and family stood with me and prayed me through the great depression of 2009. Thanks ya’ll.

Sing
Words and Music by Shaun Groves
Copyright 2009 shaungroves.com/ASCAPVerse 1:
In this brawl between the empires
Of our good Lord and the Liar
Will you stand, please stand with meRight now I’ve faith to take it
But oh, when they come to break it
Will you pray, please pray with meChorus:
And we’ll stand and pray
‘Til the dark gives way
And then we’ll sing (sing, sing)
Yes, we’ll sing (sing, sing)
Oh, we’ll sing (sing, sing, sing, sing)Verse 2:
If doubt and fear conspire
To steal away your fire
And leave you cold, I’ll stand with youRepeat Chorus
Bridge:
Hallelujah, sing, sing
Hallelujah, sing, sing
Hallelujah, sing, sing, sing
We will singVerse 3:
In this brawl between the empires
Of our good Lord and the Liar
Will you stand, please stand with meChorus 2:
And we’ll stand and pray
Push the dark away
And on that Day we will sing (sing, sing)
Yes we’ll sing (sing, sing)
We will sing (sing, sing, sing, sing)
Bonus: Several times during this video I look like I’m about to, well, have an accident. Or I’m trying really hard not to.
Am I the only one noticing this about my singing face? That needs some work.
Kevin Twombly says:
I counted three times – and once it looked like you were really trying hard to get a big one out…
great song. We all need people who will stand with us and lift us up!
Jason says:
AWESOME song Shaun. Absolutely awesome.
Good vid too. 🙂
Jim Gray says:
Shaun…I really liked the new song. Funny camera guy, is he for hire?
Princess Leia says:
AJ insisted that we watch “Mist’ Shaun” three times while he and Joanna danced to the music. By the third time, he was “singing” along. He even wanted to watch you “ah-din” instead of watching a DVD. That’s high praise from my little man.
So you’ve got a new generation of fans – the 9 mo – 2.75 yr set.
Their mama liked it too! And the camera work was excellent!
Brad Ruggles says:
Awesome song Shaun.
Major props to your cameraman too. That was some killer cinematography that even Spielberg would be jealous of.
April says:
Great song!
I also have to say I love your stories about your kids 🙂
Rebecca says:

Great work. I really like that opening hook you play. That is nice, really holds that together. Good Singing on sing!
Cindy says:
Beautiful song! What a lovely gift God gave you at the end of the “darkness.” Thanks so much for sharing with all of us.
Cards Fan says:
Definitely like it!! Thank you for sharing, and thanks to your little man for hangin’ in for the full 3:30!!
Jessica says:
So loved that.
Stretch Mark Mama says:
I don’t think I’ve ever heard you sing.
(And I call myself a “fan.” Pfft.)
Also. Thanks to my Gary Larson style of humor, I chuckled at the phrase “The Great Depression of 2009.” Hopefully you meant to be funny by referencing the historical event. If not, well, add another notch to my Evil Belt.
(And to the others who leave normal, sweet comments–I was NOT laughing at depression OR Shaun. Just the phrase. THE PHRASE.)
*smile*
Shaun Groves says:
I appreciate your humor. Even if it means you don’t love Jesus as much as the rest of us.
Stretch Mark Mama says:
I’m kinda on the Christian D-List.
I love Jesus but I snark a little.
Andy says:
Wow . . . Powerful stuff. Strong lyrics . . .
Thanks for sharing.
Mamasboy says:
Great song. Thanks for sharing. Hearing it is a whole lot better than just reading the lyrics.
Nikki B. says:
I really, really like this song. Great job!
It’s so amazing to know that people are praying and fighting for us when we can’t do it ourselves at times. I’ve written a song similar to this a few months back when I was going through a hard time and I knew that a lot of my family and friends were praying for me.
Oh, and the camera man has skillz. 🙂
Robin ~ PENSIEVE says:
Because I’m such a fan of your writer’s voice, I sometimes forget I was “introduced” to your through your singing voice. A thousand years ago before I ever thought we’d actually meet.
Light dispels darkness and this song is a gift to you (from you?) from a time you’ll not soon forget.
For the record, cutting off the tops of people’s heads is artistic cinematography…not a boo boo :).
Beth says:
So, when’s it coming out for the masses? I want to hear this thing set to a full band on the airwaves- it’s an anthem, man, and none to soon for RIGHT NOW. Thanks for sharing- it’s a perfect song!
Shaun Groves says:
Thanks, Beth. Hoping before the Christmas tour.
I’m hoping you’ll be able to download it right here for free by then. Hoping.
Bill Horn says:
Good stuff, Shaun. I really appreciate your music. This song is an encouraging one!
