Shaun,
Thank God for you & your music. I’ve had your CD invitation to eavesdrop for several yrs & had not listen much recently to christian music. Last week, my 16 yr old son Nathan died from abusing air duster to get high. He’d battled depression, bipolar disorder & anxiety disorder since his early teen yrs. He always searched for something just to make him feel normal & to fit in. my wife & I struggle to find help through pshyciatrists & medications.
We prayed while our son cursed God & hoped to die. He was a cutter for awhile, which he’d stopped. In the past few weeks he’d begun a transformation he was honestly listening & talking frankly with us about God. The irony is that God gave me a beautiful son/yet he was so tormented. Then God gave us hope that he was turning his life around & then took him from us. Please don’t misunderstand, I’m not blaming God or angry. I’ve truly begun to understand that God’s ultimate plan is awesome and lives are being changed through this tragedy. What I really wanted you to know is that after a few yrs of not listening to christian music, I popped in your CD and the words ministered to me so much. Welcome Home sort of decribed the chaos of my son’s life & he literally had stuff taped up on his walls that gathered on his search for meaning. As I sat at the funeral home remembering how my son pushed me away & denied my affection & rarely ever told me he love me track 8 “Abba Father” came on & when I heard ‘I love you daddy’ it seemed as though it was meant for me from him to reassure me.
I praise God for you & just wanted you to know. I love you Shaun.
