Missouri Baptist University is bringing me in this weekend to play a concert (7PM) and to speak at their first ever worship arts conference (2:30-3:45). An old friend of mine, Brad Andrews, is heading this thing up and has done a great job getting the word out not only on campus but to all the local churches. There should be a good crowd of local musicians, pastors, and worship leaders there.
I’ll be speaking on how the bible defines “worship,” and how nonessential music is to being a church and to our worship of God. I’m hoping, because there’s so much time built into my session, that there will be lots of discussion and not so much lecturing.
If you’d like to attend, it’s free, it’s in St.Louis and all you need to do first is register with Brad by e-mailing him:
See you there.
Jame says:
Just curious. What do you classify as non-essential music in church?
Fred McKinnon says:
Shaun,
I’d love to hear this talk … think they will record it and make it available? Maybe a podcast?
Sounds like a teaching we could ALL benefit from.

PS: praying for Gresham still!
Cali Amy says:
aw, wish I could be back in the hometown and see you. Hope it goes well for you. Will pray that it does. Sometimes people can have rather violent reactions to the non-essential nature of music as worship in church. (Just kidding of course, sort of)
Thomas says:
I would love to attend this, but there is just one problem. I could never get off from work to attend it. I hope that you would be able to make this a future Shlogcast.

I hope to be there!
