How bad have things gotten in the Christian Music Biz? Well, the Gospel Music Association asked me to be their keynote speaker at an event for musicians in Nashville on October 12th and 13th.
Hard times. Hard times, indeed.
See you there.

Hey Shaun,
Wow .. that is a surprise! No doubt, God’s given you an awesome ability to communicate, not just in lyrics and song, but with heartfelt passion and what I might call a “prophetic edge”, LOL!
Look forward to hearing how that goes, or maybe hearing it live.
For the Kingdom,
Fred McKinnon

You sure they weren’t meaning to call Sara Groves and accidentally looked down at the next name on the list when they were dialing?
Hale-Yeah! says:
that’s pretty funny man. Nice job.
Brant says:
Please tell them we’re still waiting for someone to imitate Coldplay.

You sunk my battleship!
You’re a cold cold man, Mr. Groves. I pity the innocent victims of the icy blast of reality that you bring to the world.
shaunfan says:
Brant, nice line. Or should I call you Andrew Ridgeley? Thanks for giving Shaun all that airtime on Friday and exposing Florida radio listeners to the soft rock star. Too bad you’re not in syndication so that I could hear you way up here in PA. I guess I’ll just keep listening to Coldplay’s influence.
Shaun, seriously I think it’s great that GMA respects you and maybe this is an indication that times are changing. I can only hope.

Nancy Tyler says:
Hey Brant, I don’t know if your station uses the same outside imaging company that one of my local stations uses but they have a spot talking about their “safe, positive, etc etc” pledge and the music bed they use for the spot is Coldplay’s “Clocks.”
Depending on my mood, I’m either amused or ticked every time I hear that.
Thomas says:
Shaunfan,
You can catch Brant’s show over the net. http://wayf.wayfm.com/
By the way, I like this version better then the first version made by the GMA.

I rescently saw you in concert in wauchula florida. Not wanting to take up to much of your time as you had already spent a good amount of it entertaining us and taking pictures after the show. I just wanted to say how blessed my wife and i were by your testimony and the passion you feel for those kids. We have sponsered a child ourselves. It was truelly awesome to see the GOD given passion that you have. My wife and I wish you nothing but the best and PRAY that GOD continue’s to use even more to spread his good news
GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS

Thomas, thanks for that link. I will make sure I tune in to hear Brant online sometime. My question for both Brant and Nancy regarding Coldplay’s “Clocks” and the fact that Daughtry’s “Home” is now on every Christian radio station’s top 20 most played list, similar to how The Fray’s “How to Save a Life” was last year is whether now there is a more conscious effort to “catch” radio surfers with secular tunes or cross-over artists than in the past.
The top rated secular radio station in Philly has graphic non-family & unsafe content but also plays those songs which is ironic. I know this has nothing to do with Shaun’s original post but would not be the first time his readers changed the subject on him.

hehe… I just showed the whole video of “The Truth” to a friend of mine on Saturday, and she loved it! Unfortunately, Wisconsin is no where near Tennessee, nor am I a musician, so I guess I won’t be seeing you at the event. I know times are tough, but keep pressing on towards the prize!
Grovesfan says:
It’s about time! Maybe, the Christian music “powers that be” are finally figuring some parts out. Wish I could be there, but I don’t think the tax firm would take too kindly to me having the first week of April off!
