I’m experiencing it firsthand: Online, I found my husband, our cars, our house, our travel companions, many of our friends, and my current job in Korea. We keep in touch with family and friends all over the world though email, our blog http://lofbomm.com, and internet phone. My husband is completing his degree online. We get all of our news online. We conduct business online (selling my CDs, and my husband is a voice actor). We book travel online, we buy our music online, we buy almost everything but groceries online.
Keith, you say a computer can’t compute if it’s unplugged, but I’m sure I’m not the only one whose brain can’t compute if it’s unplugged from my computer.
Jessica. Unplug your brain and go to bed. After a few days, wake up and eat some bran flakes… maybe with raisins. Walk outside and talk to people. Buy a newspaper. Talk to some more people. Memorize some scripture so you can meditate on it (sorry, can’t decide if I want to be silly or serious. but this is a really good thing). Only plug back in for an hour a day. Eventually, your cerebral synapses will fire on their own again.
I don’t want to argue, but look at a few pictures, and you can see that I am indeed living as you suggest. It’s pointless to fight technology. You have to learn how to take advantage of it. Technology can help you to live well, to feed children, to educate them, to share the news of Christ, etc. Shift does happen, and it’s happening.

I saw the Nintendo number and thought that amount could feed over 37,000 kids for 10 years. The rest are numbers and won’t matter in eternity anyway.

Not arguing at all. Just joking around a little with my brain unplugged.
