A Note From Goran

Goran is a Christian showing Campus Crusade for Christ’s ”Jesus Film” in Croatia and Bosnia.  He sends this prayer request:

Dear in Christ,

I will try to make this note as short as possible, so you can have more time to pray with us.

We are showing Jesus Film in two cities during Easter time. One is Vukovar, Croatia (April 05. and 06.)and another is Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina (April 02.- 07.). Common thing with Vukovar and Mostar is that both were heavily damaged during the war time. The city of Vukovar was the most destroyed city in whole Croatia. I have spent in Vukovar 4 months of my war time during 1991.

Another common thing is that both places are divided by ethnic groups that fought each other during the war. In Vukovar those are Croats (Catholics) and Serbs (orthodox), and in Mostar we have Bosnjaks (Muslims) and Croats (Catholics).

Division and problems in those two places kept us from making us a Jesus Film Showing until now. We knew it will not be easy, specially in Mostar which is divided on East (Muslim side) and West (Catholic side). People stay and live within their limits.

Due to the very high price of theatre on West side ($620 from 6pm until 10 pm), that was paid by my dear friends and supporters, we could organize one day of projections. 700 people came on the showing at 6 pm and after 20 min. we had to send them home. The company the was operating 35 mm projector misplaced the beginning and the end of film. Around 700 people come for the next showing, and they were send back, ‘cause technicians didn’t have enough time to fix the problem.

We were devastated to see about 1400 people not being able to see the film and to have opportunity to hear the Gospel.

Also, catholic bishop have told people not to go to see the film, but 1400 came.

Two articles came in national newspapers and said that rumor was going around about this film being anti Christian and that was the reason for stopping the showings.

Now, they offer us to have another showing in June……….which is totally out of the question.

Please pray with us that we can negotiate another showing in next 7 to 10 days. Pray that we can gain peace with God so we can trust Him in all of this and follow His leadings.

Pray against spiritual forces that we experience from the very beginning of this project.

Those of you who have gift of prayer, please put us on your priority place.

Last night in East part we had 75 people come to see the film! Muslims were waiting in front of the theatre to give out their literature and to put pressure on people who cam to see the film.

We need your prayers!

In Christ

Goran
