PRESS RELEASE: COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL ANNOUNCES THE MARK SCHULTZ & ANITA RENFROE TOUR
Fall Tour Features Special Guest Singer/Songwriter Shaun Groves
NASHVILLE, TN – September 18, 2012 – Platinum-selling recording artist Mark Schultz and Christian comedienne Anita Renfroe will join forces this fall to co-headline an exclusive 12-city tour. “Compassion International Presents Mark Schultz & Anita Renfroe” will also feature special guest singer/songwriter Shaun Groves, and will have audiences laughing, singing and sharing in poignant moments as these three artists take the stage each night. The tour kicks off Oct 4, in Springfield, IL, and will hit Tulsa, St. Cloud, Atlanta (Marietta), and eight other markets by the time it wraps up in Elmhurst, IL, on Oct. 28.
Schultz will be touring in support of his new album All Things Possible (Sept. 4), which features his signature craft of story-telling set to powerful, radio-friendly melodies. In fact, the album’s title track and first single is continuing to rise on radio charts across the Christian music spectrum while the album garners rave reviews from media outlets across the country.
Renfroe recently released a hilarious new DVD entitled I’m Not High Maintenance, Just Low Tolerance, and will keep audiences in stitches as she shares anecdotes and songs from the new project. Described by some as “this generation’s Erma Bombeck,” Anita is known for telling it like it is, and will undoubtedly bring laughter to the stage with bits like her surprise YouTube hit “Momsense (The Mom Song),” in which she lists the typical duties Moms juggle in a 24-hour period, performed to the tune of the “William Tell Overture.”
Ticket buyers for the Mark Schultz & Anita Renfroe Tour will have the option to purchase a special “VIP Experience” ticket, which includes premium concert seating along with a pre-show Q&A session with Mark, Anita and Shaun, and a commemorative tour pass. The Mark Schultz & Anita Renfroe Tour is partnering with Compassion International, the world’s largest Christian child development organization ( www.compassion.com) that works through local churches to permanently release children from poverty. Founded in 1952, Compassion successfully tackles global poverty one child at a time, serving more than 1 million children—pre-natal through higher education—in 26 of the world’s poorest countries.
ABOUT MARK SCHULTZ
Originally hailing from Colby, Kansas, Mark Schultz moved to Nashville to pursue his musical ambitions and found inspiration while working as a youth pastor. Schultz booked a show at the city’s famed Ryman Auditorium and with the overwhelming support of friends and family, the show was a sell-out. This virtually unheard-of feat for a new artist landed Schultz a record deal where he went on to sell over 1.3 million albums and garner 10 No. 1 singles to date. He has landed the top spot on Billboard magazine’s Christian Adult Contemporary Songwriter list and has been featured on “48 Hours” and “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” In 2011, Schultz released his first instrumental album, Renaissance and his first novella, titled “Letters From War,” based on the his hit song. His 2005 release, Mark Schultz Live: A Night of Stories & Songs, was certified Platinum by the R.I.A.A. and earned Schultz his first GMA Dove Award. RaD says:
Rats! Not anywhere in my area. 🙁
Shaun Groves says:
Ah, stink. Sorry about that. Road trip? ; )
Yvonne says:
Hope you have an amazing time on this tour! So sad that it won’t be anywhere near my area out in California. Maybe next time? 🙂
Shaun Groves says:
Man, you West Coasters get ripped off on tours don’t you? It’s so expensive to get out your way on a bus, that’s why. Maybe next time.
Yvonne says:
There is a possibility that Colorado might be in our future! We will wait and see how God works this all out…in the meantime, I’ll just keep listening to your songs! 🙂
Jeffrey says:
You think west coasters get ripped off on tours. Try living in Canada. Only the biggest acts seem to come through here.
Kris says:
Hoping to sneak over to the Zanesville show, but it’s an hour away and I have four littles at home, talking to the husband about it–even if we don’t make it over there, I will be praying for you as you go!
Shaun Groves says:
Solution: husband takes the kids, buys you and friends tickets, and you get a girls’ night out. Problem solved.
Kris says:
Genious! 😉 We’ll see!
Win says:
I’m working the Compassion table in Tulsa on Saturday. I hope you will stop by to see us!
Shaun Groves says:
Stop by? You advocates are my heroes! We’ll hang out plenty in Tulsa. See you there!
Angie says:
No where near me, but will be praying lots of kiddos get a sponsor .
Shaun Groves says:
Thanks, Angie!
Cheri says:
We will be blessed by the tour in Sheboygan!
Shaun Groves says:
Please come introduce yourself!
Kelli says:
Has no one ever mentioned to any of you how awesome Florida is? I mean, it’s a great place. We like music down here…and laughter…
Thomas says:
So close, but so far away because your show in Sheboygan is on a Friday night. Are tickets available at the door or are they through Ticketmaster?
Diane says:
Your tour was amazing last night in Springfield!!
My friend Tyler was the gentleman who sponsored the first child – he was so touched by your message and truly just felt called. He’s working a temp job, but recognized how much he had to give! Thank you for sharing your message and all the best on the rest of the tour!! You were amazing!!!
Rachel says:
Hey Shaun! Glitter girl here! My family and I are excited to see you tonight in Tulsa:)
Jill Foley says:
Come to the NW! Pretty please? There are lots of Compassion folks out here. And the scenery is way better than the midwest (I know because I spent the first 18 years of my life in Illinois).
