Well, it’s time once again to get on an airplane and cross an ocean with a bunch of people I met on the internet. I’m heading to Tanzania May 6-12 with the crafty and creative Maggie and The Nester, leadership guru Scott, minivan lover Kelli, homeschooling expert Jolanthe, and the resourceful Amy.
You can follow us at compassionbloggers.com/tanzania and on Twitter here.
We’ll be splitting our time between Arusha (in the East) and Mwanza (farther West), getting on a plane the size of a pack of gum in between. (I joke. Kind of.) We’ll be visiting Compassion International child development centers (aka projects) all week and writing about the experience in hopes of seeing hundreds more Tanzanian kids sponsored.
For those of you who already sponsor children in Tanzania this is also a great opportunity to see exactly how Compassion is spending your $38 each month to meet your child’s physical and spiritual needs. We may even visit your child’s development center. We’re stopping at TZ-967, TZ-670, TZ-671, and TZ-505 before heading home.
You could help us out by praying (for safety, family left behind, words, health), telling your readers and friends about this trip and asking folks to sponsor a child that week. Here are some banners to help you with that last part. Just copy the code from the box below the banner you want and paste it into your site. And thanks, in advance!

I absolutely love the blogger trips. I have learned so much through the posts and I have been inspired even more to share Compassion.
Simply put, Compassion International is doing amazing things in this world as a whole. But, when we see the personal stories behind this program, it becomes clear just how life-changing it all really is.
The Lord has put advocating for Compassion into my heart and your trips provide added inspiration.
Praying for you all. Thank you, again.

Shaun, glad to hear you Compassion folks are coming over for a bit. I’m in Geita, a small rural town 125km west of Mwanza.
I’ll be in Mwanza for part of the time you guys are in country; which days will you actually be in or around town there? I’d love to share a lunch or a cup of coffee if you all have any free time. Also, if there’s anything I can do to help, please let me know.

I have just created a blog could you clarify how I include this stuff – do I literally just copy and paste? Do I paste it under ‘insert link’?

Our Jacob is in TZ-674, you may need to adjust your plans!
Praying for your trip…excited to see what God does.

Hi Shaun! Kelli is my sister in law and I can’t wait to follow this trip through her writing. I know she is uber humbled to be a part of such a calling and adventure. I am praying you all have eyes to see and that God gives you all the ability to communicate that sight via the blogs. Praise God for your heart for the orphans. God is using your humble leadership to get the word out.

I love these trips and love how you keep going to new countries. Our boy Joseph is in TZ 807, and although you won’t be at his project, I’m looking forward to getting to know Compassion’s work in Tanzania better.
My prayers are with you.

We sponsor Kelvin, Magreth, and Msafiri in TZ, but you won’t be visiting any of their projects. We love our Tanzanian kids so, so much, and I believe you are going to fall in love with the Tanzanian people! I’ll be praying and watching your posts. Maybe you could hug a few kids for us while you’re there:)

I have been sponsoring Mery from Tanzania for two years. LOVE her SO much! Her Student Center is TZ 960. I can’t wait to read all of the blog posts about your visits to this country that I know very little about. I’ll be praying!
Amy says:
The blogging trips are my favorite events of the year! Praying for you, your team and your families. Also praying for each person who sponsors and each child sponsored.
Karen says:
Thanks for taking the time to sit and talk at the event yesterday! Dave and I really enjoyed it! We are SO looking forward to following the blog trip and will be praying as God works in and through each of you! Know we will also be praying for your family as they are here without you!
And when Burkina Faso is on the list….remember who to call! 🙂

I am so excited to follow along on this trip. I don’t know if my husband will be as excited, since Africa+babies=a puddle of Jenn. He *loves* it when he comes home from work to find me crying over pictures of little African children. 🙂
Seriously, I am praying for all of you, and trusting that God will use every aspect of this trip for His glory.
Heidi says:
We’ve sponsored Mwajuma from Tanzania for 4 years now. She’s not at any of the centers you will be visiting, but I’m excited to follow along and learn more about the work in her country.
Patricia says:
Wow I can’t believe your leaving me behind. Ha ha. No seriously, it’s hard to not be going! I will be praying for you as you lead! Praying that the trip is fruitful near and far! Love all of you. Give Keely a hug from me!!
Carisa says:
So so excited for this trip and to follow along….this time it’s even more special since the “homeschool expert” is my sidekick ;-).
Steph says:
How exciting. Praying for you friend and your team as well. Our Meshack is in TZ 815 but we will still feel a little closer to him through your trip and can’t wait to hear all about what the Lord has waiting for you.
Lindsay says:
My prayers are with each and every one of you as you take on this journey. God bless you all and the work you are doing!

We also sponsor a child in TZ (a small rural town called Igogo, south of Mwanza). Her name is Hawa and she was born less than one month apart from our first-born in 2008.
We spent 3 months living with a Tanzanian family in Bukoba (2 years in a row) in 2006 and 2007. It is an incredibly special place in our hearts, and I am loving following along all of these posts – the experiences are so familiar to me.
