I was out late (for me) singing (watching) Karoake with some friends. Needless to say I’m dragging this morning. At least my stomach is fine.

My mom’s secret for getting me out of her hair for a couple hours...she’d send me outside with a saltshaker and tell me that birds can’t fly away if you can sneak up them and shake salt on their tail.

After an hour or so of that, she’ll be ready for a nap, I promise.

how do you get an 8 year old to take a nap? spend ALL morning at the pool. Let them wear themselves out. Nothing wears kids out as thoroughly as a pool.

Nooooooot to scare you, but the H1N1 virus is still out there and active. My agency had a big national convention last week and we just got an email saying one of the attendees was diagnosed with swine flu after the event. Oops.

I’ve been doing a “boot camp” here for a few weeks in an effort to be less fat and pathetic. And since I’m hoping to get back on stage doing theatre when I get up to Nashville in a few weeks, I will be continuing my efforts thence. Perhaps I need to look into this Cuban Assassin myself… I mean, if he makes you puke, he’s got to be doing something right, right?

Here’s hoping you are doing better by now. (as for kids napping, when I was 20 or 30 months pregnant with my son, I would encourage my daughter-age 3-to play “beauty shop.” Which basically meant I could close my eyes for a minute or two while she applied eyeshadow. The fact that I actually dozed off might account for a entire face painted blue and a round hair brush permanently tangled in my hair. However, it was a small price to pay for a bit of rest.) Anyway, I’m praying today went better than you could have imagined. (and that you’re not contagious!)

oh, man! hope you’re feeling better soon! And about the 8 year old and a nap...I don’t think a couple hours of playing in a pool, followed by a hefty dose of Benadryl, ever hurt anyone too badly.

No reason to feel like a wuss… unless you stop. Some people are just pukers. Even when I was a college athlete and in great shape, I’d puke on occasion. You should probably think about what you are eating or drinking beore and during the workouts. If I knew I was doing a hard workout, I could drink water during it because I knew what would happen.

You’re not a wuss in the exercise dept (I know, because I AM!); only in the “crap, winter in ND again!” dept.

Seriously, I hope you’re feeling better very soon. As for getting the 8 year old to take a nap, that isn’t your biggest problem. She’s the nurturer, so just convince her you need nurturing and you’ll be pampered to death. Your biggest problem will be convincing the 6 year old and the 4 year old that jumping on the trampoline, setting up and participating in the slip and slide, and 40 games of horse, aren’t in any way nurturing. After that, getting THEM to take a nap will be the biggest challenge.
