It’s official. 1,000,000 children are now sponsored through Compassion International! 1,000,000 children in 25 of the world’s poorest countries! And an estimated 6,000 of those sponsors are you guys reading this blog, college students who sat through my ramblings at a chapel service, and folks who came to my concerts. Thank you! (Wess Stafford, Compassion’s president would like to thank you here.)
An official press release about the 1,000,000th sponsored child will be out soon and I’ll add the link to this post when it is. Stay tuned!
But that’s not all! The Compassion bloggers trip to India has officially resulted in the most kids sponsored of any blogging trip we’ve taken so far. Yesterday, the 900th child was sponsored as a direct result of the India trip and the incredible work of the bloggers who went. Thank you to everyone who posted a widget, banner, tweeted, linked, prayed and made this trip the success that it’s turned out to be. Because of you 900 children now have sponsors whose generosity makes meeting a child’s physical and spiritual needs possible. Thank you!
The blogosphere could use some good news don’t you think? Spread it.

To have been a small part in that milestone? To have shared a few words for those who have no voice? I’m stunned by that privilege…and thrilled so many children’s lives have been impacted for the Kingdom’s sake.
And in turn, to know many sponsors’ lives are affected as well.
Thanks for your Very Loud Voice on behalf of Compassion, Shaun
. I know you’ve inspired me…and the ripple effect continues without end in sight.
Shazaam!
That is absolutely awesome. The India trip was life changing for me here in Alabama. I hope and pray to meet my Compassion child, Nevine, in Kenya one day. If READING your stories was that effective, I cannot imagine seeing his sweet face in person. Wow.
Thanks for all you do! The Lord is smiling on this occasion!

That’s pretty freaking cool.
Saw this earlier on FB – yay! Amazing what God is doing through Compassion. The more I learn, the more I like.
Thanks for the update on the result of the India trip…I was wondering!
Awesome!! I can’t wait to sponsor a little boy or girl from India. I sponsor a little boy who is 4 named Denis from Guatamela now.
I was recently on a blog (manofdepravity.org) discussing a comparison of World Vision and Compassion International. Two years ago I sponsored two children through World Vision. I can send Easter cards to Thulani in South Africa but I can only send Springtime cards to Fareda in Omo Nada, Ethiopia because it would be dangerous to mention Jesus in her area. World Vision can go places Compassion International cannot. Compassion works through local churches and can only go where Christian churches are allowed.
I learned at a Jeremy Camp concert last week how Compassion International works. I cannot afford to sponsor more than two children and will not give up my two. However, in learning about Ethiopia, I know that the nearest location to Omo Nada with Christian churches appears to be the town of Jimma. Therefore I have begun searching Compassion for children available for sponsorship in Jimma. I pray for all the children available for sponsorship in Ethiopia as I go through the search. But I try to promote any from Jimma. There is one currently. His name is Tewodros. He is eighteen and has been waiting more than 6 months for sponsorship (has a heart on his pic). He speaks Oromiffa which is the language my Fareda speaks in Omo Nada. It is my prayer that someday Fareda will be able to hear the Gospel. Here is a link to sponsorship of Tewodros Mammo in Jimma. http://www.compassion.com/sponsor_a_child/waystosponsor/ChildBio.htm?Child=ET4100160
