I’m pondering twittering only when on the road. It would keep me from having to make time to blog on days when there isn’t any and it would be very helpful for updating folks from trips to the developing world, like India in April. It’s something I’d like to at least try. But I’ll need some help getting started.
When Twitter was brand spankin’ new, I signed up for an account under the username “shaungroves”. But I never used it. Now, when I try to use it, it says I can’t, it’s deactivated. I can’t open a new account with that name either. I’ve tried to make contact with Twitter to figure out how to reactivate that account or start a new one with the same name and I get nothing in response. For a couple months now: nothing.
(This is one of many reasons, btw, I really do think Twitter is ripe for being squashed by a rival: horrible support.)
Anyone more experienced in the ways of Twitter know a workaround, a better way to get support, anything?
If not, anyone want to suggest a different user name for me to use?

Go with shaun_groves, and if they ever unlock your other account you can just switch back.
you can go with one of the lifestream entities, ala friendfeed and probably get shaungroves that way. cool thing with ff is if you pull in one of the widgets onto your blog you can import twitter, rss suggestions, flickr, etc. so if you phone is enabled to upload or bookmark to sites such as that it can import into your site for people to see. the widgets can be a permanent sidebar or header/footer or just temporary post. ff is what i use, but there are a few other lifestreams to get in with. i would suggested getting a twitter account as it is a growing community to communicate with & communicates well over the mobile technology
You can change your username after you sign up for your account… so if you open a new account and pick something different, you can go ahead and start playing with it, and then if/when Twitter gets around to fixing your problem, you can change your name to shaungroves if you still want to.
Change your user name to TheBarryManilowOfChristianMusic. Oh wait, I think that one’s taken.

These are all great suggestions! Although we’re not sure how to reactivate a Twitter account, here are a few suggestions for possible usernames:
Shlog, Shaun_Groves, Shlog_Mobile, ETC. Whatever you choose to do, please post your new Twitter URL on here. Twitter is really a great way to stay in touch, and we love the many we’ve met and connected with!
