Denver And The Mile High Orchestra are a big band that does what I do: They play mostly churches and talk for Compassion International every chance they get.

This band is on a new show similar to American Idol but, you know, for bands.  It’s called The Next Great American Band.  Like American Idol, these guys perform, get critiqued on national television by two nice judges and a purposefully overly jerky one and then folks at home get to call in and vote for their favorite performance of the evening.  This is where you come in.

Honestly, I admire these guys because they arrange and play very intricate difficult music.  But that’s not why I’m asking you to vote for them.  They may also be the best band on the show – I don’t know, I haven’t watched enough to tell. But even if they are that’s not why I’m asking you to vote for them.

The thing is, if Denver and his big band can stay on the show for just a few weeks, the attendance at their shows will go up, as will the demand for bookings.  And you know my philosophy by now: More people coming to shows means more kids saved from poverty.  It’s that simple.

I don’t want these guys to win and get stuck in a crappy record deal (and it is a crappy one).  I just want these guys to stay on a few more weeks, just long enough to get the word out about their music and draw a bigger crowd to their shows and save more kids from poverty.

Simply put, if Denver keeps winning Compassion and kids win.  So, please vote tonight after the show airs on NBC FOX.  It’s a free call to a number they’ll give during the show.  Somebody please post that number here as soon as it’s given so folks without TV can call in.  I’ll be on stage in OK City.

Thanks.
