I’m headed to Paris today, changing planes in Chicago. And then tomorrow morning, evening, whatever it will be in that hemisphere, we’re heading to Ethiopia.
So one of two things is about to happen to this blog.
1. It will go silent for ten days. (my apologies)
2. It will be filled will audio, video and pictures from Ethiopia. (if there’s internet access of any kind)

I’m in the admiral’s club in Nashville’s airport grabbing a few minutes of free WiFi. (Brian flies too much, enough to be gold or platinum or something with American Airlines.)
I’m also on-line to get some more info on the Louvre – we’re hoping to go there on our layover in Paris today (tomorrow? ) Anybody been there? Is it worth the price of admission?
If you like art, I suppose it is. That is one place I skipped in Paris. However, I loved walking around it.
go to the louvre later in the day and see if you can buy a “used” ticket from someone who has already been through it that day. the passes are good all day and you can enter and exit at your leisure. it’s worth going simply so you can say you went and saw the mona lisa. if you can’t buy the tickets from someone else, it’s always nice to do it for someone else on your way out.
obviously by walking around it, I meant outside.

I am always humbled by your passion for the poor of this world. Living out the 2000 verses in the Bible that address this issue is something you take seriously and it shows!

If it’s not too late – may I suggest the Musee d’Orsay over the Louvre, or – perhaps the Rodin Museum? The Louvre is overwhelming and crowded, the d’Orsay (in an old train station) is bright and airy and the art is much more interesting and accessible. Lots of impressionism and The Gates of Hell are there! Either way, enjoy and have a wonderful trip!

I agree with Amy-I skipped the Lourve (i walked around outside too!) and opted to go to the Musee d’Orsay also. I think it was well worth it. Have a great trip.
On a side note, my favorite part of Paris was Montmartre and Sacre Coeur. That is my final suggestion!
I thik the museum choice depends on your taste. I loved the D’Orsay because it is Impressionism through the modern era. However, I thought the Lovre was worth the plane ticket to Paris. We had to choose our favorite art eras (18th century Italian Art) and the Greecian Scultures were phenomenal. Of course, there is the Mona Lisa and the pyramid. Skip the Egyptian (unless you are really into Ramses).
Enjoy the food. The French really DO understand good food and wine.
Sorry- I think it’s Grecian. Anyway, the sculptures from Greece.
I hope you’ll have internet access. It would be awesome to “join you” on the journey.
Jimmy and I went to the Lourve and really enjoyed it. It was actually free the day we went – I don’t remember the day of the month, but apparently one day a month all the museums are free.
FYI – The Mona Lisa is WAY smaller than I thought it would be.
Very cool Shaun and Brian. Looking forward to some great pictures either soon or more than 10 days from now. I’ll be praying for you as well.
