A video of Kwashiorkor posted 11/7:
http://www.xanga.com/no_Im_not_a_nurse

I’ve found her blog a couple of days ago and keep checking in, even though (or maybe because) it breaks my heart. I can’t stop thinking about these kids.

Yes, it does make spending $4 on coffee seem pretty silly.

Shaun, thanks for drawing attention to the contrast. Of course there’s no way to know from here, but that rash sounds like one of the symptoms of Kwashiorkor, which is pretty common to see in children in sub-Saharan Africa.

One of the things I’ve had to come to grips with this year is how painful it is to die of starvation. A child with Kwashiorkor can experience everything from chronic diarrhea to liver disease to an enlarged heart before finally falling into a coma before death. They hurt - physically - all the time.

Sure makes spending money on a new ipod or a $4 coffee seem pretty silly.

Very convicting Shaun. Thank you for loving these children. You are doing God’s will.

Micah 6:8 He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

The contrast between those two pictures is like looking at snapshots of heaven and hell, side by side.
