All my best for your book, Shaun. I will put you on my morning prayer list. Teaching is such a sobering activity because of its weight in God’s eyes. I pray He gives you wisdom for both the truths you teach and the structure you put them in! Peace, brother...andy

Thanks for this. I never knew that interpretation you said most people have, about the loss of innocence. In fact, if I were completely honest, I haven’t much thought about it. But I like the interpretation you give. That rings true to me.

One day, I found myself in the thick of a sin it had never crossed my mind I would ever do. It was a very powerful and humbling experience. It made me realize that I was absolutely capable of doing anything. And in that realization comes the ability to see others through the same eyes. With compassion. With understanding. It is no longer me versus them, it is more--where do we go from here? How can I love away the monster inside you?

you said
“I’m not likely to take care of evildoers, feed them, pray for them, until I recognize the care God has extended to me in spite of the evil I’ve done”

so true, so true!
until we realize that the wickedness of our own beating heart has offended and been forgiven by our merciful God through his son, we will continue to be like Jesus’ “evil servant” in his parable. The one who went out swinging hammers at everyone who owes him a dollar while forgetting he owes his own master a million.

great words!
