I am a new promoter who has put on 3 shows over the past 3 months. We lost money on the first one, made a few bucks on the second and the last concert was another loser.... I have actually lost my life savings trying to promote concerts and I will tell anyone who would like to try it out to be careful. When booking a concert make sure you check the local community events before you book your event. If you are using a local church to host your concert make sure they are going to get behind the concert. And just hosting the concert is NOT enough… Don’t expect their members to attend if the leadership is not behind the event. Recently we had one of the major CCM touring acts here at a huge church that has over 5000 members and almost 700 youth. And all in all we had less than 300 people.... </p> <p> I also would suggest contacting the local TV morning news shows. Some of them have morning shows like “Good Morning America” but on the local side… Send them free tickets and ask them to do give a ways during the morning shows....
