Heh- and here I can’t wait to be driving those roads again….
I loved reading that list of best and worst in the sidebar of the story. I mean, Texas was everywhere in it in somewhat contradictory ways: Worst Rest Stop and 4th Best Rest Stop, 5th Worst Truck Stop and Best Truck Stop. But I’ll agree on the best roads going to Texas – great driving here. And I’ll attest to Louisiana having terrible roads; just horrendous.
If I didn’t live here, I would never drive through Louisiana. The roads are in a sad sad state. I drove my truck into a pothole once. Never saw it again.
What I don’t get is why Louisiana road are so awful. I understand bad roads up north, where freezing and reheating takes it toll, but Louisiana? Roads in MInnesota, for instance, where there is some serious freezing and thawing every year and loads of salt and sand dumped every winter, are FAR better than Louisiana. And Texas, just next door, doesn’t have their road problem either. What gives?
Yeah and half of the roads are actually bridges! C’mon Lou get ‘em smoothed out…
