Couple of new music news items are up on the Music Blog you might be interested in.
1.Apple Sells DRM-Free Music (DRM free means the music file is able to be spread and used more easily by the consumer – use on a legally purchased download is not as restricted anymore.)
2.EMI Releases DRM-Free Music (It’s one thing for iTunes to be open to selling DRM-free music. It’s another to have major label groups like EMI buy in and release DRM-free music.)
The digital music revolution continues.

So is this something having to do with those cute little “transistor radios” that people are carrying around plugged into their ears?
I’m really ignorant when it comes to labels and which artists sign with which labels… I read that approximately 20% of iTunes’ library will be freed from DRM because of EMI. Does EMI handle specific genres, artists, etc? Am I likely to find CCM or country or rock or ______ now available because of this? How can I find out if my favorite artists are likely to be included. Like… Shaun?
This is really cool news.
I too was wondering which groups were on this EMI label. This Link seems to give a good overview of some of the artists and groups that are on EMI.
EMI has a Christian division under which all the Passion artists (Six steps records: Chris Tomlin, Charlie Hall, David Crowder Band) would be included as well as BEC (Jeremy Camp) and Sparrow (Steven Curtis Chapman, Nichole Nordeman, Avalon). actually I don’t know if Six Steps Records is just distributed by EMI or actually considered one of its labels.
I assume the Christian labels owned by EMI would also be releasing DRM-free music. Don’t know though.
