It doesn’t bother me that much when people give a little intro. However, you hear them all the time so it starts to sound like a Chinese drip after a while I’m sure. As long as it is short and sweet it’s fine with me. Some songs don’t need them for sure. I see plenty of ‘pros’ intro as well so I wouldn’t just limit to lowly inexperienced Indies.

Then only thing that ever annoys me is the “I just wrote this like ten minutes ago” stuff. That doesn’t do anything for me and its only purpose is to impress and most of the time those songs need a few months of seasoning.

Save the veiled self-bragging or false humility for your mom. Lets hear the music… IMHO

i admit there are songs i wrote that isn’t clear enough because i met some people ask about its meaning after a show. one example is “ mura pud ka si kin-sa(who do u think u r?)”,a song i wrote in visayan language, one of philippines major languages.

they’re always troubled whether the song is plainly about college girls or the “big guys” in the church.

my reply though is that it depends upon ur perception. if u wanna take it as for those people, then ur free to do so..

but i actually wrote that song for a certain college chick though. i have no idea how that came to relate to todays “big guys”..

maybe because of too much hypocrasy. but then its just my opinion though.

Salamat,
michael

by the way im from cebu, philippines.

im just a college guy who write simple songs for schoolmates and those who want to listen.

No. I’m saying if all you have to say is “This song is about...” or “This next song is called...” then you’re better off playing without talking, song after song, than boring your audience. Why tell us something we’re about to hear in your song anyway? Are we - your audience - too stupid to figure out what the song is about on our own?

I talk between songs...sometimes a lot...but I’m offering something the song doesn’t tell the audience, or just plain entertaining them. I NEVER say, “this next song is about...”

If you have to tell me what it’s about A)Did you write the song as clearly as you wanted to? and B)Can you tell me in a more entertaining/interesting/provocative way than this?
